Junior Mens/Womens Track and Field League

National Junior League

The Junior League Team after their playoff success in 2007

Team Managers: Paul Wilson and Martin Rigby

This is a league for Under 20 athletes, although Under 17s are also eligible to compete. The teams take part in four meetings against the same 7 clubs each time, but at different venues

In the 2007 season we won the Pennine Division and then the playoff to gain promotion to the Northern Premier League. Our target for the 2008 season was therefore, to consolidate our place in the Premier League, mixing with the likes of Gateshead, Sale, Edinburgh, Liverpool etc.

As a result of some hard work, and really good team spirit, we achieved this target comfortably, finishing the league in 5th place.

2008 Premier League Table :-

Team Edinburgh 1898 30 pts
Sale Harriers 1828 27 pts
Liverpool Harriers 1642.5 19 pts
Kingdom Athletics 1698.5 18 pts
City of York 1583 16 pts
Gateshead Harriers 1570 15 pts
Leeds City 1491.5 15 pts
Trafford 1001.5 4 pts

Leeds and Trafford are now relegated and will be replaced by 2 "composite Teams" from Scotland - Team Glasgow and Team Forth Valley. The league is unique in that it allows clubs to band together to form a composite team if they feel unable to field a full team in their own right. For 2009 there will be 4 Scottish composite teams in the league, doing battle with 4 individual English clubs.

Watch this space for the 2009 fixtures which will be published as soon as they are available.
