European Mountain Running Champs, Telfes Austria, 12st July 2009
Vicky Graves won team bronze running for Britain in the junior womens European Mountain running Championships in Austria. Vicky was selected for the team after winning the selection race in Snowdonia last month. She was 9th in the Austria race, less than a minute behind Turkish winner Derya Altintas. Gina Paletta in 6th was 1st British counter in 6th place with the team completed by Molly (Blue) Haywood in 13th. Great running Vicky ! Last year you may remember that former member Sarah Tunstall was 3rd in the senior event of the same championships.
Not to be outdone, Vicky's brother Phil also hit the headlines recently winning the Wimblewall Ironman Triathlon in the Southwest. The event comprises a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile cycle and 13.1 mile run and being held in Exmoor there was also nearly 3,000ft of climbing. The field of 1,000 included 20 professionals, but Phil beat them all. His next major target is the World Championships at Florida in November.
