All three of the Hammer throwers who won Yorkshire titles in 2007 also won gold medals in the 2008 Yorkshire Championships held at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield on Saturday and Sunday.
All four throwers in the younger age groups threw personal best performances. In the Under 15s Sam Blain excelled with the 4 kilo hammer when he threw 50.61 to move to the number one spot in the UK rankings. His team mate in the same age group, Sam Beavers, came second and also moved into the UK top 12 with a throw of 39.60 metres.
In the Under 17s Luke Slater retained his title with a throw of 49.35 with the 5k Hammer and moved to 11th in the UK rankings whilst team mate Lloyd Woolacott placed second with 44.05 to improve his national ranking position.
Under 20s Champion, Morgan Bell, who ranks 9th in the UK, also placed 4th in the Senior Men’s competition after placing 4th in the British Universities Championships the previous week.
