Road Running
Please note that City of York AC does NOT affiliate for road running.
Members take part in road races as members of our partner club York
Acorn Running Club. There have been some instances this year of members running road races in City of York vests which means that we may miss out on team prizes (I believe we have done so this year) and it makes us look foolish to other clubs. If you need an Acorn vest contact John Tattersall or Paul Richardson. So don't forget to wear the read Acorn vest in road races. Note that the same applies to fell and trail races.
For more information about road running, go to the York Acorn Running Club website www.yorkacornrunningclub.org.uk
York & District Road Races League
The club affiliates to the York and District Road Running League which organises a series of 10k races between May and July. This is a local league with the 7 York & District Clubs only, with each club organising a race each. These clubs are York Acorn, Tadcaster, Selby, York Knavisemire, Pickering, Pockington and York Postal Harriers. This league is finished with a handicap race, with all runners having a staggered started depending on their personal best posted in the pervious 2 years, giving all runners a chance of winning.

This year saw MARK PINDER from the club win the final race of the year by a staggering 2 minutes, knocking off 3.30 minutes of his PB. This must have taken some real hard work to and gutts to chase down all the runners with a head start on him and beating off any faster runners over take on the 10km course. He took the lead with around 2km to go, following the lead car looking fresh and like an eliete athlete taking the finish by storm right through the line to be this years WINNER!!! - A true athete in the club!

Road Championships
A high priority is given to road relay championships, the Northern 12 and 6 stage relays and if we qualify the National relays. The mens event has 12 legs, the womens 6 legs.
Open Races
The club takes part in a large number of open road races, some of which are classified as targets.
We organise the York Millennium Bridge races which can be found on this website under "Millennium Bridge race"
